MPC Beats

Hey do any of yall have beats posted on soundclick done on a MPC 2000, 2000xl, or 1000 or even a 60.

The reason is i want to hear if there are any major or small differences in their sounds.

Would a MPC 2000XL and a Yamaha A3000 be a killer setup, as far as sampling goes. Cause i want to use the A3000s filters to get that old skool grimey sound on some of my drums and get the primo feel!

check out the your music section. Almost all the beats in there were created on an mpc.

If you ever heard a DJ Shadow record or a RJD2 record that's straight mpc. Also I can cosign Dstruction.com for that mpc flavor and alsk Vakseen has some very different interesting productions as well.

personally, id get the 2000xl over the 2000. They are pretty much the same, but the 2000 doesnt have timstretch, or mute off mode. Also you have to start up from a disk.

the 2000xl has a default rom you start the OS from, so all you have to do is turn it on. Plus timestretch can be usefull. But i love the mute pad thing, its how i figure out how im gonna build my songs-you use it to mute tracks, and you can view all the tracks at once, then just hit the pad that corresponds to the track.

anyways, i guess it doesnt matter what one you get, if you use it with another sampler. Filters is where the mpc lacks.

But i think a mpc 60 for drums, connected to another sampler would work good....its been proven by dj premier, and several others. But RjD2 can show you how to use just the mpc2000xl.

Kanye west uses the mpc2000xl, but i also think he uses another sampler.

I use my triton sampler with the mpc, I just think the mpc sampler lacks, good filters adn shaping tools, but my best beats are pure mpc. I use the mpc for all my drum samples, and one hits. But if im gonna autocromatic, or multisample something, or twist it someway, i use my triton. So i guess it depends on how you work. The mpc4000, though, can be self sufficient for everything.

You can't really compare the sound of those samplers when you hear songs made by different people... Like I can get real dirty with my XL, but someone else can get the cleanest, most radio friendly sound out of a 60. It depends how you use it. The best way to hear the difference would be to sample the same sound into all of them and then compare the result.


But as said there's some stuff in the YOUR MUSIC section that you can go check out. Most of the stuff is probably done on an XL. Dj Andreas I think uses a 60.

The 2000 Does have track mute pads.......you can access it easier on the reg 2000 then the xl...used it all the time....

the xl's timestretch is not an impressive feature, IMO - if price is a factor the 2000 will get you through it

Hey what do yall think about the yamaha A3000 sampler, i har it has pretty good effects and a thicker sound than some akai's. so what about that a3000 and mpc 2000xL combo?

That's what he's saying. And don't forget the s950

2000 has mute pads? well thats a plus....didnt mean to miss inform; but i dont remember seeing it when i used my friends. I agree with you on the timestretch, but the timestretch is still better than the triton. But nothin compares to software...I use sound forge.
