NEED HELP!! HELP A GURL OUT PLEASE WANNA GET MY MPC WORKIN!!

I bougt a PC 133 144PIN CL3 SODIMM 256MB ram my mpc reads it but then just stays on the 128mb installed screen nothing else happens sometimes when I restart it the screen will read 128mb installed SODIMM ERROR I already removed it and reinstalled but nothing changes same problem any suggestions? I bought this at a refurbished parts store could it just be a bad ram? or any sort of updates needed??

If you take out the RAM stick, and the MPC works as normal, then the problem is likely to be with the RAM. It's not necessarily a "bad" stick of RAM. I'm more inclined to think "incompatible". I would return it if possible, and get another one. Even if you have to shell out for a new one, it won't exactly break the bank. As you know, these are dirt cheap. The one I installed in my 2500 last month cost me a whopping $9.

Now, if you try another stick or two of different types/brands, and these don't work either, the problem is potentially more serious than bad or incompatible RAM. There COULD be a problem in the board where the RAM expansion slot is located. In this case, I would call up VST and see what they recommend.

Still, I'm thinking this stick just doesn't want to play nice with your MPC. This is a fairly common problem with laptop RAM upgrades, even in the laptops they SHOULD work with.

The mpc can only use half the side of a ram chip, so if you gota one with 256 you can only have 128 ram so theres nothing wrong with it. If you were using a PC then you would get the full 256

i know it can only read 128 I guess this one just doesnt wanna work cuz it stops at that 128mb installed part gonna try a new one hope try 2 works I really wanna start usin my mpc

Yeah, but it still shouldn't display an error. It should just say 128MB installed and move on to the main screen. She said it said "SODIMM ERROR", which even with a 256, should not happen. Correct?

Mpc's won't work for sodimmites. Clean up you act before it turns you into a pillar of salt..
