i feel you C_T i was thinking this a few yrs back myself ,i listen to modern rock/alternative and i have heard some nice new breaks that bands do on there music pretty dope shlt,

the way i think of it,it's going to happen like this in the future; sampling will still be around they will need something to same more breaks so they will dig for cd's with breaks on them,this is what they will find, music from today. like we dig now for music that was popular or know to few , it all comes around.

what i have heard on the radio ,(I dont listen to it much,i dont know names ),but i hear some nice breaks.

yeah, i think youre probably right - as a lot of diggers are also collectors, its more likely the people who i consider proper diggers* will be out there looking for a hard copy.

personally ive always hated collecting cd's ... something about the size of the cases. theyre just so much bigger than necessary and the shelves fill up quicker than need be - considering how thin a cd is.

also - bear in mind that cd sales are on the way out (or is that just singles...whatever) and files are taking over, there will only be a limited ammount available, ie. those made from the 80's to the near future. a large chunk of which were already available on tape/cd.

*proper digger: someone who gets out there and does the leg work, anyone finding stuff on a computer is just a file browser IMHO (still a means to an end though, not knocking it blah blah)

I downloaded 'All The Breaks' CD (**** buying it) and it's a load of craaaap. Overused samples.

It's not just about breaks. Use drum kits (sample CDs full of kicks, snares and hats), layer them up, EQ, add effects, and there you go. Unique drums.

I'm working on a beat right now, to make the snare, I got a crispy snare, some white noise, and a sleigh bell. Layered them, sorted out the levels, and it's a tight snare. To go the extra mile, import it into the computer, stick it in a sample program, **** about with it, and import back in.

As for breaks, yeah I'll use them. But I won't tell anyone where I got them from because I use my own money to buy tracks to sample, why give another producer your sample archive? That's a waste of your money.

The only answer is search. Search. And search again. Go ahead and use a break from a pop track, but make sure you fuuuck up the break so much that you can't tell where it come from.
