Reason to an MPC 2000XL

I've been making music in Reason since Version 1.0 (now on 4.0 or whatever the latest is). Using a PadKontrol and an SP-303 has made me realize how satisfying it is to have pads and knobs to work with. The fact that the SP has everything in one box is even better. Although the SPs sequencer is limiting.

Has anyone else made the jump from software to the 2000XL? My main concerns are the learning curve of the machine and sample time. I've read a lot here about recording at high speeds and slowing down in the machine. What are the limitations of say a maxed out machine with an external drive? Thanks.

Just buy a new MPC and you wont have them concerns. I know theres a love for the 2000 xl but in 2009 sample time/memory should not have to be a concern when the actual price of memory is beyond cheap these days.

Thanks for your reply. That's a good point. I may need to check out the 2500. I played with a 1000 last weekend and it didn't feel right to me.
