am feed up with OS2xl it seems like it's a half finished OS.
and looking like it's gonna stay that way... as jj is pre occupied with the windoz effort.
i'm especially pissed that pattern has been nobbled and is now fairly useless.
so i'm going back to usin OS2
i've followed the jj OS for a few years now and beta tested an bug reported often.
but os2xl has been the biggest disappointment, as it's just been about shuffling the
same ideas around. but making them worse or giving us back old ideas. eg = input filter 2 is back - erm didn't we have that in the beginning.
why can't we have something useful like having a note last over 26 bars ... now that would be useful.

anyone else agree with me? maybe someone can convince me to change my mind and stick with the program?

"this thread again..."

folks said the same thing about os2 up to the release of os2xl

anyway, it's got exactly what i need, so...what to do other than watch the forums get more boring

(answer - make some videos showing stuff only os2xl can do?)

more people going back to os 2 (& letting JJ know their dissatisfaction) can only be a good thing the way i see it.
1 of 2 things will happen:

1. JJ improves os 2. giving it some 2xl features (customizable MAIN & NUMERIC, etc...).
2. JJ fixes 2xl, giving it some os 2 features (working SIMULT. working QLINKS, etc...).

win win either way.

well, perhaps if this thread comes up from time to time - maybe there's a reason.
perhaps folks have a point ...
or maybe you like pattern mode that doe's not a lot... or an arp that is so basic it's boring.
and many other things half baked and missing.
i appreciate what jj has done with os1 & os2 they really are achievements.
but to my eyes - development on xl has ground to halt half way through.
are we going to get stuck with os xtra lame ... until jj releases xtra xtra lame..... puts all the bits missing from the last one
and takes out the bits from the one before.
nym am surprised at you putting up with this substandard shit - or maybe you are happy with it and suits your needs.
but, sorry it dosent suit mine thanks, and no doubt, quite a few others.
so back to os2 for me - i'm stickin there. unless there's some order and radical improvements.
as for makin videos - i'm here to make music not videos for u tube. i need the best tools to do the job and i think os2xl is simply not cutting it.

where's the other thread?

Hah... I think they're talking about about a thread I wrote earlier this year. It was really more of a rant than anything. The subject was damn near identical to this one!

nothing i use/test is substandard in jjos2xl. it's got the best grid sequencers+ q.s. (step sequencer aside - i never could use that because i double-time my tempo so i can get out of first gear) the best sample manipulation (stereo crossfade is invaluable for note-per-note chopping) and the quickest navigation hands down.

every function that i use in jjos2xl is pretty unarguably the best incarnation of that function since the free os in 2006 - you may use different functions, but that does not call for allegations of "substandard" especially when you could demo/read the feature specs of the os before purchasing it

they don't make shine-able shoes like they used to

I'm curious what the OP's actual complaint is. He doesn't mention any specifics. Overall 2XL is killer (with the exception of some Massive Mis-steps.)
