Here's the situation, but first, here's the equipment in question:

- MPC 1000 (operating system - JJos 4.99)
- M Audio Keystation 88es
- Yamaha Motif Rack XS

Next, my signal path/midi connections

- Midi out of Keystation to Midi in A of MPC 1000
- Midi out A of MPC 1000 to Midi in of Motif Rack

Midi/Sync in MPC set to:

Active Track: All
Soft Thru: As Track
Sequence Change by Program Change: Off
Pad to Internal Sound: On

Here's the problem: I cannot trigger sounds of the Motif Rack XS from my Keystation. However, I can trigger the sounds of the Motif with my MPC. I've tried what the manuals have offered, but to no avail, I am still without midi capability with the Keystation. Basically, I am trying to track Midi data from the Keystation into the MPC which then triggers the sounds chosen on the Motif Rack XS.

When I had an M Audio Midiman 2x2 in the midi path, the midiman indicated it was receiving midi data from the keystation, but was not sending it out to the MPC/Receiving data from the MPC.

Since I have the JJos, Akai refused to help me. I haven't found any youtube videos that deal directly with a similar setup as mine, and I haven't found a forum discussion that can point me in the right direction. Like always, it is probably something simple that I am overlooking.

Thanks to anyone and everyone who can steer me in the right direction to get all my midi connections to communicate effectively and efficiently.

Peace,

i think a combination of soft thru setting and MIDI out of the active track is your problem
The soft thru field determines how to output the
incoming MIDI signal.
You can select the following options:
OFF The MPC1000 will not output the incoming
MIDI signal.
AS TRACK The MPC1000 refers to the MIDI channel
setting of the sequence’s track. The
channel information of the incoming
MIDI signal will be replaced with the
MIDI channel selected the track.
OMNI- A The MPC1000 will output the incoming
MIDI data as it is from MIDI OUT A.
OMNI- B The MPC1000 will output the incoming
MIDI data as it is from MIDI OUT B.
OMNI- AB The MPC1000 will output the incoming
MIDI data as it is from both MIDI
OUT A and B.

with soft thru: on and the active track set to MIDI:off you would expect to get no sound from the module
