ASR midi question...in the studio, need halp asap!

Anyone know, on the ASR (88 keyboard) how to make it sync to midi
timecode? Trying to send timecode from daw to the asr to lay track by track, synced up...in the studio now with client, and they don't know about their asr...help!

set the daw to output mmc (the bpm), set the asr to receive dont play with mtc its garbage.

dstruk, i try homie, but problem is i havent touched an asr for 4 months or so, but i remeber there being a receive mmc somwhere in there so you should be able to sync the asr to your daw and if you got an MPC , use that as a go between the daw and the asr. clockin the bpm to the daw via mmc (make sure to set the mpc's bpm to your daws go bpm, everything including the ASR should folllow) and the asr to the mpc via normal midi, im assuming your trying to add parts to an already recorded sequence on the daw, let us know.

super cluthc, go to the asr yahoo group and do a search on mmc.

its in edit sequence turn clock source to midi
it can only do midi clock send mmc to the mpc then on the out midi of the mpc send midi clock to asr

Hay, yall. Really appreciate the knowledge. These guys were burning thru their time, so I did a workaround, but now I know how it goes down.
Because incoming mtc kept freezing thier ASR, I ended up having them start the asr manually, with each track soloed, as if they were recording overdub on the track. That way, the metronome would sound, and then they would quickly cycle throught the screens to 'click volume', and drop it to zero before the first sequence started. After all the tracks we in the computer, I just had the engineer line up the first 'click' of the 4 beat metronome count-in on each track, down to the exact start of the transient, for a perfect lock. Added a couple of minutes per track, but worked out fine.

This studio in BK likes Digital Performer, and like you said, I don't think the ASR likes it's incerements of Beat Clock, so we should have used the MPC as a go-between to lock the asr to code. Now I have that under my belt for next time, so these cats should be real happy with that.

Well we all know that ASR's don't like incoming MIDI that much anyway, since it causes that classic MIDI buffer overflow.
When sending MIDI to the ASR like that you should filter it so it only gets the MIDI clock.
When I used deal with katz that had worked totally on the ASR I would use Giebler Tools (PC program) to convert the ASR sequence to a standard MIDI file then load that into the DAW and trigger the ASR samples from the computer.
If you have to deal with something like this again it's probably easier just to record the individual MIDI tracks into the DAW trunacate and align them, then trigger the ASR samples with the DAW.
It's a lot easier to tighten up MIDI than audio.
Or you could take the individual outs of the ASR and assign the tracks to seperate outputs and track it all at once but then you lose the ASR effects.
