Hi

Ok so i'll try to be clear as possible.

On my MPC 4000.

Say 2 pads are assigned to the same mute group.

I hit pad 1 and hold it.

Then hit pad 2 so it mutes pad 1 but still hold down pad 1 and as soon as i release pad 2 the sample of pad 1 continues.

Basically for example like if i quickly switch from turntable 1 to 2 with the mixer fader.

Turntable 1 would still play but muted because turn 2 is on.

Is it possible? And if so how to do it with the MPC 4000?

Thanks fam!

Peace!

Ok so it's possible?

Because what i actually want is when i release pad 2 the sample of pad 1 continues like it never stopped playing, only muted.

I dont think it will work the way you want it to - because you would have to re-trigger the first sample once it had been cut off by the second, (i.e. hit the first pad again).

One a related theme......

does anyone know how the MPC decides the playback priority, if two samples in the same mute group are triggered simultaniously?

I think Im right in saying that MIDI is serial - so no two note events will arrive at exactly the same time to the sampler section. So the second note cuts off the first.

So let me put it this way....if the sequencer has to send two note events at exactly the same location in the sequence, is there any way to control which note has priority and is sent first?

(like older samplers / drum machines etc where you could specify how the machine behaves when it starts to run out of polyphony).

This might sound like a weird question - but it would be useful to know for one of my applications.

I think if they are triggered at the exact same time they might cancel each other therefore no sound will play.
