IF, this goes down, and I mean IF.......

Feline..... I have a sick XEROX scanner with OCR, I think that's Object Character Recognition or something.

With our fully blown Adobe Acrobat in the office, I think I can scan this joker, or whatever, and get a pretty accurate EDITABLE remake of the PDF which would save you a ton of time manually typing, and all the pics and layout would still be there.

I'll print a few pages of the manual and give it a shot over the next week and see what it comes up with.

I have used this before and it's really functional with good res PDF's.

On occasion it will transpose characters. For instance an O might be a 0 after conversion. Or a 8 might be an B, etc.

However, the Res is pretty good on the manual so I think it would come together.

Then you'd at lease have an editable version which you could convert/import/export/edit, whatever.

If you'd like it let me know and I'll give it a shot.

Dude, thanks for the offer,
but I could do that myself -
and anyways, we already have Akai's PDF of the user guide,
and that too is already editable in Adobe Acrobat Professional.
And you can export it as Rich Text or whatever and reimport it into
FrameMaker and rebuild the whole thing........
.....still as laborious as hell though.

I'd be for it, without a doubt - I pay for Mac OS updates, I have no qualms doing the same for the 4000, especially with the amount of use I get out of it. Although I have no real issues with the latest OS, there are a couple of features I would like added that other MPCs have had - again, Chopshop - this should have been in there in the first place, and proper realtime drop in/out phrase recording. Bring it
