Just bought the EB16 FX card

its actually possible to kill the highs or lows completely if you enter the mix screen + highlight it, set the direct path to off, the the signal is not blended wih the eb16 but completely fed to it and you'll can for exemple feed a sample to the eq filter and get a hpass/low pass effect to it without the original signal beein heard

which is great for delays sometimes (if you want to hit the pad early to only get the effected sound.

Yeah guys, remember to turn off main vol. and play the sample only through the FX filter. I know my sounds get thin, so I don't understand why other guys says they are able to get rid of "some" of the lows.

you mean record the sample with the fx already?

the only issue I have with doing that is some effects require stereo to sound good... which can eat up the ram quickly if you do it to a lot of stuff.

95% of the time i sample in mono, occasionally i will sample in stereo if the situation calls for it. But with my setup right now i can add effects either before sampling in the MPC or after everythings in the MPC.
I have my mpc chained to a Boss BR-532 and i can add reverb or delay over the entire overall mix before mixing/burning to CD.
I know alot of dudes dont usually add efffects on their overall Mixes, so in that case usually sampling in mono and finding creative ways to recreate a stereo ambience would be the way to go.

I can appreciate a touch of mastering reverb if it's needed, but I steer clear of all that personally.

yeah agreed... well it can be understandable if the track is some sort of abstract score like thing for a creepy part of a movie or something.... just sounds etc.

but not for a song. (delays etc.. on the master)

Oh yeah i totally agree with you guys. Reverb and delay only tend to muddy things up, especially if applied to an overall mix. Very rarely will i apply effects over the entire completed mix, other than limiting and compression.
But occasionally for my other styles i may expermiment, sometimes i like the ambience and "atmosphere" some good Hall reverb can create in a beat...But i keep it very subtle.
