I am going to try to decode your message and offer some assistance. (Most of this is going to be off assumptions/detective type Culombo Analysis of your text, so if it's inaccurate, sorry)
If you HAD a CF Reader, and you claim to have OS 1.14, I don't believe your CF card was working.
So I am going to guess you are trying to put the FDD back in order to install OS 1.20...
If that is the case be sure you properly connected the Power Cable back to the FDD, ALSO make sure you are connecting the drive using a FDD Cable and NOT THE IDE CABLE THAT YOU USED FOR THE CF READER!
Another note: Be sure the FDD is being plugged into the drive B connector: here is an old post I wrote about this:
