Exactly !
Had some experience with spraypainting my BMX bikes back in the 80's.
Even when done by the book , timing the drying periods of every layer and all that, paint still came off very easy.
That's why i decided to use stick on vinyl.
It was € 4 at a shop where they cut out fonts for banners, and it took me only 2 hours to put it on the MPC...so you could change it as much as you'd like..
Believe me, even from very close by it looks as 'factory' as it does on the pictures.
Not one little bubble or overlapping vinyl. It looks painted. On the bottom picture you can see a few little bubbles on the back next to the display, but they're gone now. Took the picture before i noticed them. It's now completely bubble-less.
The week after i was done i have been just looking at it more than using it, hehe..

And it's holding out very well; took it for some gigs and not a scratch !
Only one little damage so far , but that was from dropping scissors point down on it. So as long as you don't do that too often, it'll be fine !

powder coat is not a very practical nor economical method of doing this. not to mention that the extra mils added from the system will most likely make it imposible to fit your buttons back through the holes. the proper system is actually automotive painting systems. and basecoat clearcoat is the most resistant to wear. but if you want a satin look you can just use a single stage acrylic urethane. if you want to see what it should look like just go a few post's back in this thread and look at the pics of my case.

and for the record. powder chips and scratches just like any other paint. the only difference is that when you scratch powder there is no fixing it.
