JJ Sequencer - still on course for release before end of month? Noticed that the webpage appears to have changed and there is no file download box. Looking forward to testing it.

thats the best freeware sample playback software i know of. i wish jj would take some notes. it has an mpc flavor. nym and others have mentioned it here before.

I'm looking forward to checking this out for a minute, but I still wonder if JJ will make enough money to stick with this project. I imagine that he plans on getting most of his customers from this site. He obviously has a trusted reputation, but there really doesn't seem to be much interest. I think most people using MPC's are happy with hardware. I guess we'll see in the next few months...

i stick to my theory that this is essentially a 'resume builder' for JJ. he wants to have PC programming experience to show to a potential employer. plus, he is probably learning as he goes. i don't think he really expects to make much money or sell many copies of this app at all.

nah, i think this is just him trying to develop another product to sell, out of the same code. he's squeezed all he can out of the mpc os's with cpu limitations etc.... i can't see him making anything past 2xl where people will be willing to spend money again.

its a smart move for him to use this code base to try and make a software version of it. its another product targeting a whole other audience. people who can't afford mpcs or just want to work on their computers. if he can make the workflow somewhat enjoyable like the mpc's workflow i think the shit will do well. it really all depends on how the final product is.... i give him a 60/40 chance that it'll be dope.

i just really want to test it out.

well i that sequencer could load programs and sequences made on the MPC and had more advanced features and VST suport i whould buy it.

I think most people would be happy with pgm and seq compatability, JJ would probably get some custom from here if that were the case, - unfortunately at an earlier time he said something along the lines of "JJ sequencer is mpc unrelated". Itd be great if the real meaning behind that is lost a little in translation and there is mpc compatibility.

Judging by the screens on the site i'm still guessing it'll be 1k/2.5k compatible, on some level at least. My guess is that it's basically a port of the MPC's sequencer only to windows, possibly as a tool for JJ to use in development of OS's for MPC's or other hardware sequencers. That's his area of expertise, and as others have remarked he's not likely to make a significant splash in the current software sequencer market...
