MPC 60 II ERROR!!!

MY MPC 60 II KEEPS GIVING ME AN ERROR OF FF10 CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT THIS MEANS?

THE DISKS ARE PROPER DISKS MPC 60 II FORMAT HAD READ THE DISKS IN THE PAST BUT NOT CURRENTLY.

FF10 - is a "checksum" error.

Your MPC60 more than likely displayed on its screen:

"Sorry, this file (or possibly the
entire disk) contains damaged data.
For safety, transfer any other good
files on this disk to another disk
and stop using this disk."

This message above can mean a number of things where failure is concerned ...

So with this in mind.

When you say "disks" do you mean floppy disks ?

Or do you mean SCSI connected disks ? Like a ZIP disk drive ?

Thanks Rohan, It did give that exact message and it's my floppy disk drive and I was using a floppy disk. I fear my drive is ruined it won't read any disk formatted to MPC 60 II format.

I put in a disk earlier and tried to load it unmarked floppy maybe an non-DD style disk, when it didn't load i attempted to format it.

Now when I put the disks in MPC 60 II format it shows what's on the disk but when loading takes hella long then I get that message.

My drive is screwed huh?

This could indicate failing floppy disks or a drive going bad/in need of service.

Sounds like the heads are dirty or the head preamp circuit on the drive is failing.

Try using a floppy disk cleaning kit and see if you can bring it back to life.

Sad fact with MPC60 floppy drives is that most of them have done many years of dirty work.

So it is inevitable that they will one day fail.

Thanks dude I have an appointment with Bruce Forat in the AM he gonna take a look at it and see what's happening. It's actually reading 1 disk regular MPC disk not MPC 60 though.
