I've had my 1200's now for about 19yrs. no problems other than replacing the strobe light. If you got the funds, try to buy one and work your way up to another one. A good investment if you ask me.

I have horrible luck. I had my Technic 1200s MKII for two years and they broke. So did my Numark TTX1s... but that isn't a surprise at all.

But whoever posted this.... they work. Great. I just am the most unlucky person in the world. The first three MPCs I bought broke in 2 days.... Brand new... replaced... I bought two Rane TTM56s until I got one that worked....
I bought a new computer and plugged into the wall and blew it all my breakers and fried every part in the comp...
Basically, don't listen to my history with equipment. The Technics were the greatest decks I have owned.

Dude I think you need to have an electrician come into your house. It sounds like you have something bad going on.

HAHAH. I have played drums for 12 years. I tour in bands, and do studio sessions.... I just don't want to play drums though. LOL.

every single turn table will get the job done except for technics 1200's.

Ehh? The 1200 would be fine.

This is what I would buy if I never mixed or scratched. Great tonearm on that and it comes with an excellent cartridge. The tonearm and cartridge are two of the most important things on a turntable and Rega arms are renowned.

If you just want a quick and dirty way to digitize vinyl then any entry level turntable will do that can accept a standard mount cartridge.

case re-opened..i owned 1200's for about 6 years,and have always kept up with new product info(tt's mostly)..then the gemini tt04's came out,,and they ran off the japaneese* blueprint of the 1200..so i went ahead and sold my 12's and picked up the tt04's
now its all a personal prefrence,but i am pretty sure i wont go back..ive had the tt04's for about 3 years and run then hard,,not one single problem yet,as a matter of fact i had more problems with the 12's in the 1st 3 years..

now in regards to gemini,,i have owned some of there stuff in the past dating all the way back to the "gemini xl-bd10).. and non of there stuff has impressed me,,but once i read about the tt04's,,i was instantly intrigued..you should look into them.

you cant compare a company thats been the industry stand since day one to one that has only been in it for have the time. this is a turntable were talking about it plays your records it give you sound, the quality of sound that comes out a technics you cant compare inless you go audiophile then your going to spend mass amounts of money.

the turntable itself has nothing to do with the sound my friend,,,its in the needle,vinyl,tonearm,and mixer...ive seen junk tables with superb clarity.
if you dont want to study the new age then i suggest you stick with your old 12's,,but if ur looking to step into the new era,,,tt04's have been ranked above stanton and numark, being cheaper than both.
like i said,i owned both and have no regrets what so ever.
