testing pad sensitivity

I'll be looking at the older blue MPC today and the owner claims to have not used it much, and also claims all the pads work properly. How can I test sensitivity/velocity?

Oh, and the fun part is he only has a MIDI keyboard so I can't record samples with record/cd player(if that makes it any harder).

1. THey should be very sensitive to the touch. Go to the pad sensitivity screen (this is in JJOS, I forgot if its there in the AKAI OS).

2. THis one is a no brainer man ... Bring your IPOD/mp3 player, phone (if it plays mp3s), discman, tape player, etc and a 1/16 jack adapter to test the sampling capabilities.
