Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I'm using Cool Edit 2.1 and I do not have 8 outs on my MPC, therefore I'm having to dump one track at a time.
Does anyone know how I get my MPC to MIDI with my PC?

All you need are midi cables. Not the typical ones you see but,the ones that go from out/in and then into 1 connector that fits your computer.I can't think of the name right now but you can find them at any type of electronic or music shop......Peace

Thanks stryke....Hey nice Gun.
I have all my wires connected. But when laying down the first track should I record a midi track, should I see levels?
Or is there a something within Cool Edit I need to turn ON?

i use 2.0 but it should be somewhat the same. When i activate a track,i just click on the record button and make sure it is set to midi. And you should see the levels on yours(i think).

Actually if you're sending data it does'nt ,unless you have midi data you have recorded to your mpc and you need to dump. When you're transferring data back to the mpc it definitely does need to be set to midi.
