60 or 3k which screen placement position is superior?

which do you prefer the screen being on the opposite side of the pads like with the 60 mk1,

or the screen being in front of the pads with the 3000

3k

anyone else move to or from 60 to 3k or vice versa & found the screen placement to be an issue/annoyance?

Don't get your panties in a bunch just cause i'm asking about ergonomics

the layout of the pads/buttons/screen will DEFINITELY DIRECTLY influence your workflow... the way i see it, the 60 was more thought out in terms of layout/screen placement... the function buttons are directly under the screen on the 60, but on the 3000 the screen is above the drumpads... imo, its more important to have the screen near the buttons since thats when you would be looking at the screen... i dont think its too imperative to be looking at the screen when your banging pads and playing sounds...


i was questioning this a few years back, and elmacaco explained it to me pretty good... i dont remember exactly what he said, but it made alot of sense... im sure you would get used to which ever one you used frequently though... im not the best to give advidce with this stuff either since its been over 2 years since i had my equipment hooked up...

definitely not the most useful thread, but to me its useful and i don't care if it is useful to you

in response to fobedafied i kinda feel that the 3k might have better placement because you can intuitively know what buttons to press on the function button section after working with the machine for a while

i see friends zipping around on the mpc 3k without having to look at what function button they need press because their muscle memory remembers precisely where the button is. not to say u can't get as quick with that on the 60 but i think its a greater advantage to have the screen over the pads.

also like u said before having the softkeys there is kinda nice on the 3k.

I'm right handed and I find the layout of the 2kxl far superior than anything else. Thing is, that the 2kxl (and classic) were designed with the 60 in mind, i.e. the functions under the screen.

On the 60, I find it very convenient to have the buttons under the screen (right handed issue), cause I pick everything much easier. My only problem is that I actually have to move my chair slightly to the left when its time to bang them pads.

IMO, the screen on top of the pads is useless cause I never, ever look at the screen when I'm triggering sounds.

PS The screen on the center is also nice (on them new ones), but still you need to take your eyes away very frequently cause of the functions.
