Quick data wheel use

Purging isn't permanent...
1.) load only the samples you want to use for that program
2.) create & save program (you can save files in the same directory to speed up loading)...you can also use the MPC software to do these first 2 steps on a PC or MAC...
3.) when you go to track your songs & record, just load the programs & samples you're going to use. Done deal.

Purging may not be permanent, but it sure can take a while.

Does anybody know if using the Delete All Samples function (Window key from Trim screen) is faster? I seem to remember it being the case. If so, delete all samples and then delete all programs, or the other way around, because purge is damn slow.

If you just want to completely erase memory, the fastest way is to
1.) boot up your machine with AUTOLOAD turned off, and no CF card inserted.
2.) delete the blank PROGRAM1 and SEQUENCE1
3.) insert your CF card
4.) SAVE a .ALL file (yep, it'll contain NOTHING!)

Now, whenever you want to erase memory, just load that .ALL file. It'll set basically destroy ALL samples, sequences, songs, effects, etc in memory. THen you can start working again. Much faster than rebooting the thing.

I've also found, if you save an empty Project, that loading the .PRJ file does the job. Loading the .ALL file didn't quite do the job for me, can't quite remember why any more, but the .PRJ works.
