OS 1.24.....so.....I'm lost....

I've updated my OS before, so I thought I could do this easily. Got the OS 1.24 file from Akai, went through the whole deely, and it keeps telling me wrong card when I try to run the bootloader. Tried putting it on various cards, even reformatted them first before putting the bin file on them......I give up----Any of you fine folks have any tips?? (other than install JJ OS-wifey gots the spending on lock, plus I'm already familiar with Akai's OS)

Go for the free JJos. THis version and the akai os are almost identical. Only the free JJos has a few added features u'd probably miss with the akai os

You can load the update file using the load page.Came across this myself,think it something to do with not using akai's card.

I use a 2gb Scandisk flashcard with my JJOS1 for my 1k. JJOS1 needs to be booted from the flash card everytime u power up the machine I believe...

Anyway, I used a 3rd party cf card to update the os

Ya that's JJ's, this post is talking Akai OS 1.24 here. Akai OS requires the Akai card.

swear that I used one of my others before-
I don't know what it is about the JJOS that intimidates me, I guess I just got my workflow down, 'ya know....

Plus, I'm trying to get back to rockin' what I got instead of always pining over some new gear or whatever--I'm
blessed to have what I got (2500, old Roland SP808 ex as effects box, Numark TTX's, Vestax Pro III, and a Mac.....as if any
of you guys care.....whatever......I'm rambling)

Wow....I just got it to load---with the 3rd party card I initially used.....weird. Wouldn't do it
from the bootloader, just loaded it up like a sample and bango-----

The free JJOS version is almost identical to the akai os. It only has a few extra features which will really be an upgrade for ur workflow, even when u'r used to the akai os.

Just try it out for one day, u can always switch back if u don't like it.

..and you wouldn't be the only one. I tried JJOS for a few days and went back to AKAI OS. The guys here are generally positive, and its possible that if I got the paid version and sat down for a while to work everything out then it might be different.

But at the risk of sounding like a schoolteacher, it really is all about how you work and the results you get.

AKAI OS - JJOS - AKAI OS (for now)

I have JJOS1 on my 1k. It has a few cool features and options to improve ur workflow.
On the 2500 I have the free JJOS version. When I work in my 2500 I don't miss the extra features from JJOS1. But I can't live without the global program edit, easier way of chopping samples and the ability to have ur chopped sample in stereo slices.

Okay I'm gonna do it.......1.24 keeps crashing or rebooting everytime I try to make a new program from anything----

Free JJOS is so overrated, does anyone sample from the cd rom drive? It sucks on the free JJos, it does not remember your spot you left off, it starts from the beginning of each song each time you save a sample. Throw in no direct recording, and Qlink automation and you got an inferior os in JJ, all I liked was the scrolling response but its no big deal once you get used to shifting left/right on the start/end times over on the akai os. Plus I have been using an MPC since 1999 and the akai os keeps it true to the classic 2000/xl style workflow. Just my opinion.

found 1.21 on Forat's site.....was a sissy and went back to that. Downloaded the free JJ tho'---I'll check it out....
