This is the Hotswap process for the 2K Classic

Step one: go to disk page
Step two: select floppy drive
Step three: exit to the main page
Step four: disconnect the the SCSI device
Step five: go back into the disk page you see that there is know SCSI device attached
Step six: exit onto the main page again and reattach or attach what ever new SCSI device of your choice if you have one
Step seven: go back into the disk page and toggle away from floppy

BAM the SCSI device is back in operation and you are now able to load or save without having to restart the machine.
This can be considered as a form of hotswap and I sure this will work with tose of you who have those multi card readers when you want to switch out cards

it must have been a detrimental way of finding that out...



some hard drives when connected in raid arrays can be hot swappable. That is important for servers when drives within a mirrored raid need to be replaced.

Well **** ya mama because there is actually a way to do it that I tried and it WORKS!!! :P

Well you did it a few times without a problem?
But you will find yourself effin with the SCSI fuse soon. I recomment to solder in a fuse socket (i did it too :))

That doesnt sound like shit I said to do so no I wont be trying that. And Im still not completely sure that the way I layed out the instuctions will blow the SCSI fuse but I have a spare parts MPC 2000 that I can run stress test on to see if it does blow the fuse.

Hotswap has more to do with tricking the 2k into thinking that the card reader is not attached to it at all IE toggling to another device on the mpc like the floppy or internal flashrom in the disk page

Thank you? I'm sorry but I find it very irresponsible for you to make a post saying "Step four: disconnect the the SCSI device" without first saying "turn off the MPC2000". You are basically saying "play russian roulette with the health of your sampler".

People, DO NOT disconnect the drive from the SCSI connector without first powering down the MPC. You may get away with this a few, possibly many times but sooner or later, you will touch the pin 25 to the shield and bam, expensive repair shop visit (or you fix it yourself if you can). Either way, this is not something you want to be doing.
