Hmmm...... I think I'm gonna do my 2KXL Chrome to match my 4K.... with a wood front wrist rest, again to match the 4K

AWWW_NAWWW, yes, it's real wood.

I went through a bunch of them trying to get a good look. Maple, Pine, Knotty Pine (Naughty MPC's, heh heh), Mahogony, Oak, Red Oak, Etc.

Red Oak it is.... Cherry stain with a touch of Ebony added to darken it up a little.... pretty sick.

I've got my guy doin em at his work. CNC. I'm also thinkin I'll have him make em out of aluminum so I can chrome a pair!

At any rate, now that the CAD program is right I'm having him CAD up the one for the 2KXL. Then we'll make one of Red Oak.

Once I'm there I'll have him make the aluminum ones (EXPENSIVE AS HELL CAUSE OF THE BILLET BLOCKS!), and chrome em.

Then I'll just have the final decision of which ones to rock on em......

Pics when done :)

Not him, but yes I have an annodizer. Not a bad price either. I'm thinking about offering my card reader in black as well.

Billet IS gonna rock. It's just REALLY expensive cause of the material, it has to be a pretty big block to start with, and you waste about 60-70 % of it in machining, and it has to be a nice finish grade aluminum. And the final finishing is really tedious as well. Super spendy. Enough so that I don't think it will be an option for most.

I like the wood caps and chrome top panel look for the 4K, and sure the 2KXL would look just as good, but I gotta see it all chrome too!
Would be hella sick.

The screen printing gets more expensive on chrome too (Regarding the top panel) cause the 'ink' and process is different, but it looks hot.

I've been thinking of maybe having the screening on the chrome done in gold........

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

^^^gold on chrome
now thats pimpin!!

i hear ya about the cost of all of the finished product..it starts draining the pockets fast..

my mom is a tool grinder for schweitzer aircraft, she works with billet also..she takes blocks of alluminum and turns them into gears for heavy machinery,,shes been doing it for over 20 years...14 at purolator and 10 at schweitzer's..she's made numerous parts for my cars,rc's,bike,dirtbike..and i've never once thought of some knobs or something..hey maybe i could get them cheaper because the factory supplies the castors.

update: my xl is going to have a baby blue screen surround, the screen pocket will be mettalic blue and im still thinking of a button scheme.

Yeah dude if you can get knobs and fader caps made I'll take some. Fo Sho......

I'm gonna have billet covers made for the F buttons and screen cover too, just for Chroming.

Otherwise there's really no benefit other than if you were to leave them bare.

Now, the Wood ones are sick, but we'll see how long the wood screen enclosure lasts before it breaks. Some of it is pretty thin.
