Sampling turntables

holy shit... i've seen this thread like 5 times in the last month... use the search bar!

i have the vestax handytrax.

my rca line output went on it from plugging and unplugging too much. i've been using the 1/8" headphone output to sample from, but when you pitch the sample up or down after sampling it, you can hear a buzzing sound.

i sample out of my laptop and there was no buzzing sound, so it's def the turntable.

i'm prob gonna pick up a cheap belt drive table and an Ortofon needle. I'm also gonna have to pick up a cheap mixer to run it to.

what Ortofon needles do you like? what cheap mixers do you like?

I still don't get what most people would prefer!!! I was looking at a Numark TT200 turntable!!! It is a direct drive turntable.. What type of needle would i need?? I plan on learning how too scratch sooner than later

Go to a Pawn Shop or try Craigslist and get a used 1200 .. you will always get your money back if you can get it for around 200.. You will never need another turntable otherwise...

Ortofon Arkiv haha don't belive the hype...optimised for digitising vinyl hahah give me a break lol all that product is..is MARKETING BIG marketing..use your ears and you will find carts that sound 100000000 times better than orto junk u just paying for a name.
All their moving magnet carts sound shite imo..I'v used pretty much every ort pro cart and a lot of their Moving Magnet hi-fi shit which is just that.

Also no good spending loads of money on a good cart if you got a shit deck like a TT-200 or a dj deck with a straight arm...you can't use elliptical tips with dj purpose straight arm decks

Recorded with a bog standard SL-1210 mk2 thats from 1992 and still going, Urei-1620LE mixer and cheap shitty M-Audio Fast Track Pro sound card..no eq or anything was done to this other than to convert the wav into MP3

A Technics 1200 will give you great quality sound for years and years. Not to mention to scratch with they are the best IMHO ( and I have Vestax PDX 2000's and Numark TTX's )
