I'm still trying to understand this.
Just got a new OM ortofon pro s and I have no idea how to set it up properly besides having it straight on the headshell.
Whats the go, how do you do it properly with protractors and stuff?

thanks bedouin, my 1200s are secondhand so i didn't have the tool but i just printed off that "stupid protractor" and it seemed pretty straightforward.
Thanks!

Haha yeah no the generic protractors from vinylengine are actually called "the stupid protractors" :D
I think its because they're so easy to use!

One thing i just noticed i that my pre-mounted m447 seems to be quite badly aligned according to the baerwald protractor :? Not sure if this means the protractor is wrong or they just have it set up for some other alignment..

If you're using a 1200 you shouldn't be using the stupid protractor. There's one specifically for the 1200/1210/1700 there.

Shure mounts the M44-7s flush to the front, which is how mine is (was not premounted) and mine lines up fine.

^^
yeah i only figured that afterwards, it was a totally different alignment with the technics specific one.

It seems like the ortofon OMs sit as far forward as possible on a technics headshell and that position produces a good alignment
