What MPC to get for DNB/rap

I am pretty sure the mc909 is discontinued also.. have you tried that? How does that compare to the 808 in terms of DnB type stuff? (I have not tried either machines)

yea 909 was discontinued way before the 808 was..i oiwned the 808 awsome machine packed fulla great sounds..
i regret getting rid of it till this day dumb mistake on my half..
never owned the 909 but i have heard good things i seen some jamacian dude tear up a 909 on utube

I figured it would have been discontinued before the 808..

the machine looks huge in every video i saw with it....

They probably killed the MC-808/909 because the SP-606 pretty much does everything they did.

The SP is another cool looking piece.

I got to mess with the new sp-555 the other day.. not bad for the 30 seconds or so that I got to try it out (the store was closing). I only got to tap in a beat live with the sample they had programmed already so I didn't actually get to test the machine fully, but there was a few knobs with fx on the master channel if I remember correctly that sounded neat.

maybe check out that. it seems to be cheaper then the mpc1000 too.

I don't get why they didn't put a lcd screen on the 555 like the 505 and the 606 has.

I dont know, it seems to have quite a lot of knobs for different tasks so that part I liked. The pads are a bit small but they seem very solid.

For DnB i prefer an korg electribe ES-1 MK2 (for drum sequences) + Akai S1000 (for samples). I think it is a nice combo for sample based DnB.

yeah! or even the s-1000 for chopping drum shuffles and an ea-1 or what ever for bass licks.

Cant go wrong with a korg electribe. Ditto on the EA-1 as well......Those machines have all the tools one would need for a good Drum&Bass production.

Mix it up with an MPC if you like.

I realy fancy a Korg Electribe ---- hopefully get one next month ,I love korg.the only problem is that there hard to find mmmmmm do want one badddddd!!!!!!!

i've noticed they have gone up in price too.

i guess people are starting to want them.. I payed 100 bucks or so for my ea-1 mk1 and for the price it is killer.

the music store around here is now charging like 700 for the new red ones (emx1?) and last year they were charging 500-550 for it.. new of course. I guess the recession is playing some sort of effect.

^^^^^defo the recession!!!!!.All gear has gone up over here in england by maybe two hundred quid.

yeah it seems that is around the amount here in canadian dollars...

last year the mpc 500 was like $550 brand new (that was the cheapest I saw it drop) and now they are advertising 695. It's crazy.

http://moogaudio.com/ here is the website for moog audio which is a local shop. That is the average price range around town for new stuff. I know of a cheaper spot for studio gear, but they dont sell samplers and synths really and cater more to rack gear, cases, studio mixers etc.
