can anyone give an example of the difference between NOTE ON and LEVEL for MUTE TYPE in the TRACK MUTE --> WINDOW? i kind of get the concept, but even after playing with it, can't grasp how it would be useful....

Thanks in advance

LEVEL kills the level of the track. polyphony is still used.

NOTE ON kills the note on of the recorded note.

LEVEL can cut out a sound mid-playback.

NOTE ON will only mute a recorded note if it's MUTED before the NOTE ON is triggered.

thanks bro. i just noticed using it with midi, that it doesnot completely place the level at zero on LEVEL mode. actually it sounds stacatto. is that a bug or is that the way it should be? as far as actual samples from the MP, i still see no difference. can u please give an example?

Never mind.... i figured it out! I had a BD with a big enough sound to play between the LEVEL and the NOTE ON. Nice effect. another great reason why 2XL is so musical. The more I discover with 2XL, the more I'm having F.U.N! THanks again Nym

The LEVEL mute mode does NOT work well on external MIDI modules. I brought this up to JJ a few months ago, but he responded that it was part of his specification. :?

As far as I could tell it didn't work at all with MIDI. At least all the MIDI parts I tried it on all played out exactly the same as they did before muting the track, thus making the mode unusable for me.

But if you didn't understand the difference, for samples played from the MPC:
Note On will continue playing a sample until it finishes then next note will not trigger.
Level will instantly cut in/out a sample no matter what its position (but I believe it still uses polyphony(??) and has problems with MIDI.)
