Hey. I sold my 2000XL and am probably getting a 2500 very soon. I was wondering how essential it is to have a few of the upgrades. The HD is the one I am most curious about, I dont know if I need to have on one there or not. I would seem to think so, but then if I have my files saved to my iMac, then would that not eliminate the need for the HD? Also, if that is the case, wouldn't I need some sort of special file folder/converter on my iMac in order to load up files and programs on the MPC? It simply seems/sounds easier if I had a HD on the MP.
Second, the same sort of thing with the CDRom option. I have a lot of sounds on CDRom (I used to load them via SCSI on my XL) and it would seem prudent for me to have a CDR option on the MP. Is this needed, or if I have it on a computer is it the same as my HD question?
Finally, the 128 EXM Ram upgrade. This seems kind of a no-brainer since you can get Ram for like $30 I think (not sure if its cheap ram though), but extending the sampling time makes sense...until I wonder, would it be just as easy for me to use ReCycle (which I have on my iMac) and sample through there somehow (I would have to figure this out) and then load the sample over USB to my MPC 2500? I guess ultimately I am trying to figure out what upgrades are necessary and what aren't in my case. With my XL, it was more of a standalone unit since it is a bit older, but the appeal of more modern features is what made me want to go in this direction. (And please, no comments about how I will be pissed I sold my XL, I have heard enough of those and am still struggling to get over it, but I have to move on now, no choice).
Thanks so much for the help!
