MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai
By StangCobra Wed May 13, 2009 1:07 am
Since the MPC5000's price dropped to $1999, I'm now tempted to buy one. Since I have the MPC2500, I want to post the questions to those MPC users that went from the 2500 to the 5000.

1. Are there any drawbacks in making the upgrade?
2. Are the extra features on the 5000 (Synth / + qlinks / 2.0 OS) all that?
3. Are you happy you made the switch?
4. Any other advice?

Thanks,
Stang

I've been a MPC you user since "????? that's along time,I purchased my first mpc 2000,
which was a 2kXL,why so late??? cuz I couldn't afford one, that's why I used friends etc.but here's why I say go and get the 5k. It's so advanced w/ synth, hrdrecorder, butt loads of effects, mixer, you name it,and it has the fill of the 3000 which any one will tell you for awhile that know mpc could replace the MPC3000 for along time. I would go on and get it,cuz I doubt there will be another MPC like the 3k and the 5k. :)

I used a 2kxl and a 1k before, but man on ebay the 5k's are cheap. Check out seller Pro Audio Star, they got em for $1700-$2000 and the $2000 are normally packages w/ the ex-3 card, i even seen one with BX5a moniters, akg headphones(k-120 i believe) and two sure sm-58 mics, plus an ex-3 ram card for $1875 buy it now price. DO IT!
and use e-bay, cause theyre gettin to be cheep

Oh its WELL worth upgrading
So many improvements in 2.1 that makes workflow at least 30% faster.

Im so happy I upgraded from a mpc2500.
To many things I love about it to list.
