Hm .. ok, so heres my problem.

When recordning a sample (for example a drumbreak) to the MPC
(1210 -> Vestax 05 -> Mpc1000), the sound just seems to come out
wrong when I then play it in the MPC ... can't quite put my finger on
it, but it sounds kind of plastic, like theres a little reverb to it or something,
but as far as I can see under the Effect window, theres no effect applied.

Someone knows what could be the problem? Yeah .. Im a newbie.

I would say try turning the monitor setting to off. It may be creating kind of a doubled/echo-y effect...you know, because its feeding back in to itself. This would only happen if the MPCs output is getting routed to its input some how, most likely through your mixer. If that doesn't do it, i dunno.

turn off the master volume when you are sampling

this may sound like too easy to be true but it may be your cables. it almost sounds like your problem is the same sound you get when you plug your headphones into your cd player like half way (not fully inserted) so just check your cables. a 12 through a vestax into an mpc should be pretty damn punchy. oh and check with headphones on the vestax to make sure you didnt do any eqing

and like older records (LP's) tend to be a bit thin on the bass end...u can beef it up with some eq on ur mixer or the eq on the mpc which is not that bad...then resample the sound internally by setting ur record in to "main out" PEACE :D
