new 2000xl, 1.14 tryin to get 1.2

i just picked up an mpc2000xl of a member of the forums here, im comin from a 500.
he's got 1.14 installed on here, and im tryin to get 1.2 so i can install the compact flash card reader i just got from a few threads down.

he's got the standard floppy drive installed right now, and im wondering how i would go about gettin 1.2 on there, seein as i dont have the SCSI reader or anything thing that would read a floppy.

any info would be great, thanks

Did you try AkaiPro.com? Just load 1.2 from a floppy when the floppy drive is in there and then put the CF reader in afterward.

yeah i understand that, im trying to get the actual OS .bin file from my computer onto a floppy disk. i dunno how to go about doin that, floppys seem to outdated to use in anything except an MPC.

If you have no way to get the os update file onto a floppy, PM me - I can send you a floppy with the file already on it.

i have a real old school PC that i never use anymore, not sure if it even works. i have a mac mini that i use regularly. ill try and fire up the PC, its got a floppy drive in it. we'll see if that works

Just format the Floppy in the MPC first and then put the file onto the floppy on your computer. Only takes a couple of minutes

if you have 1.14 and not 1.12 you should be fine. I know users here have a mcd kit running on 1.14. I had 1.12 so I went up to 1.20.

I have a feeling that OS 1.20 is required for IDE card readers (atapi) but I believe that the people who have card readers running 1.14 are using scsi card readers...

ths is just a hunch.

well that guy who started the MPC2000xl CF card reader thread thats on the front page sold it to me, off ebay. he said i MUST have 1.2, i havent even tried it with 1.14 cas i thought i needed it.

if i dont need 1.2 then i ill install it, but the guy said needed it
