Problem with screen

I've had my mpc 1000 for a few months and just recently after i have it on about 30mins the screen starts to get a black bar covering the entire screen. If i look at the screen at an angle everything is clear and read-able, its just when you look at it straight on . Ive looked around the forum and havent seen anyone else mention this problem. Am i going to have to replace the screen?

try to fix the contrast.. the way to adjust this is either by holding down stop and turning the data wheel, or holding down shift and turning the data wheel.. its one of those two
