can i save aiff file types on a mpc 2500?

i have a tr606 kit i wanna put save to my mpc but all the sounds are in aiff format. can i save those to my mpc? if i not i can make them into .wav files on itunes but im not sure what the settings should be on i.e. Sample Rate/Sample Size??? Please help a rookie out.

the mpc 2500 reads only 16bit/44.1khz wave files.
this info is easily spotted in your manual or on the feature list at about every page that is selling the mpc.

Get audacity. U can download it for free. It opens almost any type of mediafile, and from there u can (of course edit the sample) export it as a wav file. Try to avoid I-tunes. Seriously.

Someone on here recomended this to me so it's only right I pass it back on. I've converted around 20,000 sounds in the past week that were various file types so my 2500 can read them. Even a muppet like me can use it so you'll have them sounds converted in no time!

Audacity will export AIFF to WAV just the same as itunes, toast...etc. Converting to 16-bit WAV ain't rocket science. There's a lot of programs that'll do it. No one being better than another if all you need is a straight conversion without editing.

but im havin another problem...i came across a kit that would not load up to my mpc2500...theyre all in wav files, theyre on 48,000 but i have several files on 48,000 sample rate, 16 bit sample size and all in stereo..everytime i try to load each sound up from my flash card it comes up with that message "file not found"...whats the pro'lem????
i can send sum1 the kit if they can help out..it has sum super nice claps and snares on there that i need.

All your samples need to have a sample rate of 44,100. The MPC won't read any other sample rate. If it carried different sample rates it would completely warble the sounds when it's slaved to midi sync. On any machine the sample rate within the sound device/software has to match the sample rate of the hardware unit to achieve proper sync. If it doesn't match the sounds will come out too slow or too fast.

aight i jus swithced the sounds to 44,000..and its still comin up wit that "file not found" message...

Maybe that's because the bitrate is set at 24 bits. The mpc2500 ONLY reads 44.1 Khz/16 bit files.
So converse it with dithering.

nope the bit rate is at 16 bit

One of the solutions is written within this thread... guaranteed.

This can also happen if your file names are too long. I can't remember the max. number of digits. But try shortening the file names on your computer, then try loading them again.

I think it's 16 characters.


Anyway, I use Cheetah Audio Converter then import the sounds to the MPC via CF or USB. Great for turning MP3's to WAV's and chopping up a whole song!

has any1 converted reason redrum sounds (.rfl files i think theyre called) to wav files? is it possible?

I doubt it. If I am not mistaken, Reason is the only software that can read those files and Reason has no convertor. The only way I can think of converting them would be to record them into Pro Tools via Rewire and export the audio as wav files and transfer to the MPC. But for all of that, you might as well just sample them into the MPC!
