Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey
I have an Mpc 2000 and I have just bought an Iomega zip 250mb card reader, but when I am selecting the device my mpc tells me to wait and its freezes? so I can’t save any projects, and that sucks.
Is there something wrong with my OS system..? I think its version 1.72.

Ok first of all I need to tell you that there is no Iomega Zip 250 Card Reader. Its a ZipDrive. A card reader is something else.
Ok back to your problem. There are two switches on the zipdrive. One is for the SCSI ID, the other one is for termination. Try to change the setting and turn your 2000 again. If it still freeze I guess it is a blown SCSI Fuse. Did you connect the drive while the MPC was turned on? That would be the reason for the blown fuse.
If thats the case you ned to open up the 2000 and solder in a new SCSI fuse. I dont recommend to do that if your not familar with electronics.

peace

Both switches on the back of the Zip drive should be down. Power on the Zip drive first, then the MPC. If it still freezes when you try to select SCSI ID 5, then yes, you probably have a bad SCSI fuse. This will have to be fixed by a service tech unless you are comfortable taking a soldering iron to your MPC2000. There is tons of information about a blown SCSI fuse on this board, including instructions on how to fix it and how to make sure it doesn't happen again. Use the search function.
