LINN DRUM

anybody got a linn drum and have anything good or bad to say about it?

im thinking of copping one, i got access to one for $300, and im wondering if thats a good price..

id like to hear from someone that has one or has used one, just a lil feedback will help me in my decision...

It's good, you'll probably mess with it, sample it and sell it again.

$300 seems to be high market value, see if you can't knock off 50.

300 is kinda high huh? it includes some midi upgrade too i forgot to mention...

Not too bad, it is a great machine, and with midi it rocks, Go for it.

The Linndrum is a classic. It was used on TONS of pop hits in the 80's...and some hip hop stuff too. It instantly sounds 80s, and those are the only sounds you get, unless you find some extra chips for it. That's how all the early drum machines were though.
I used to have one. Sampled it. Sold it.
I think $300 is an average price.
If it has the MIDI add on, it's a good price.

If you want it for the "nostalgic" or collectors value then go for it. It you are getting it as a usefull everyday prodution tool, it may fall a little short of your expectations.

I use sampled linndrum sounds a lot. They're just so simple but effective. If i could find the machine itself for $300, i wouldn't hesitate a moment.

its all about the DMX.

I got a DMX here that's soon to hit ebay.

I like the sounds, the sequencer is good but not all that. Messing with the pitches of the samples is fun. I sampled it a while ago, but now my friend wants something else.

Yeah, I'm feelin that.
I used to have a small collection of 6 drum machines from the '80s.
Due to lack of space, and lack of money, I've sold them all EXCEPT the Oberheim DMX.
It's just TOO damn classic. I grew up with early '80s hip hop, so the sound of the DMX is like mama's voice to me.
The first two hip hop tracks I ever heard were "Scorpio" and "The Message".....they both rock the DMX.

Yeah i remeber you selling them (ur in Berkely right?) But the DMXs aint to much money used either, i was thinking about either getting one of those or a Sequential Tom for the hell of it when some money comes my way.
