Mpc1000 to Roland d50 synthesizer???

Is there anyone out there that knows how I can set my mpc1000 to record from
my d50? I've searched all over the web, tried the whole midi hand shake deal, the whole in and out connections, but when I try it all my d50 plays but certain keys trigger sounds from the mpc. I printed out the manual for the d50 but it doesn't tell me anything. I just want to be able to record whatever I can add to a beat on my mpc, and like I said certain keyboard keys will play it's sound and one of the mpc's sound at the same time. What settings shoud I change on the mpc1000/Roland d50???

select a new midi track, then select a new program

Actually I just unplugged one of the two midi's(mpc in to the keyboard's out), and now the keyboard sounds normal. How do I record from my keyboard onto my mpc, I mean on it's own track.
