Does anyone else get the feeling that it's game over for the evolution of the JJ os?

The reason I say this is because there hasn't been any updates for ages and JJ seems to be focused on a computer SEQUENCER????

I guess we can't complain because JJ has done so much for the little 1K.

Just a shame 2XL/2 weren't fully sorted out before moving on to produce a 1990's looking PC only computer sequencer. Don't we all have excellent computer sequencers like Logic, Sonar, Ableton, Sonar etc etc etc

Oh well, all good things must come to an end!

On the contrary, I think you'll see concurrent OS2 XL and JJ Sequencer development. Think a few people are missing the point of the JJ Sequencer too. There is not another product available that will integrate as tightly with your MPC.

Just be patient.

Logic, Sonar, or Ableton don't read MPC sequence files and programs. With the processing power of the computer, more features can be added that the MPC can't handle. People want options and features of software inside the MPC, but it's just not possible. Now, you can make your beats in the MPC, and transfer it to the computer.
Honestly, I think that the MPC has been pushed to it's limit. I'm looking forward to the soft-sequencer..Really like to see a mac version though! :)

Give me a source on this one please. I´d really like to see a competent application (OSX though) for smoother handshaking between my MPC and laptop. The videos I´ve seen so far and JJ´s initial claim about independence does not raise my hopes that much.
Have I missed something or am I just being a grouchy misanthrope?

Wasn't there that video on JJ's youtube account that shown him pressing things on the MPC and the sequencer acted accordingly?

So it´s not possible to use the transport controllers (apart from Play and Stop) on the MPC to control the transport of any other DAW?

As I mix everything outboard and only record a stereo master I don´t have any experience in syncing the MPC with a DAW, but I can hardly think transport is that exclusive. And the playback of a sequence programmed on the MPC with some internal sample player in JJ Sequencer don´t really help anybody if that sample player not flawlessy will emulate the MPC.
But as I said, I might be missing something crucial here. Please enlighten me in that case.

exactly.
master-ceo's post just crushed this whole thread.

"death of jj os/xl"...... lol.
people are so damn melodramatic about all this.

at least let the damn sequencer come out first before you get all teary eyed starting threads like this.....

another plug o phobic mpc user who probably wouldnt consider using a digital studio platform in any capacity.

ill tell you what: i may have to get another mpc based on how cool this jj sequencer thingy turns out to be. will he make it a vst plugin? will he give it rewire? boy it would be pretty cool if you could use it to make your programs hyper easily.

i envision the possibility of rendering something from within jj sequencer with aforementioned extra capabilities to be played back from the unit remotely in a 'performance' etc

yall are gonna look stupid when it turns out to be something hella cool. thats where my money is.

will he make it a vst plugin?

jj could make BANK if he made a VST plugin that read mpc pgms of all/any os release....

akai pgm
jjos1 pgm
jjos2 pgm
jjos2xl pgm

and one that had the features of all as option, so that each of these loaded as smoothly as can be hoped for (with the difference of amp=>vel, etc based on the 2xl curve)

it'd be great - a return of vel=>sample start/attack if desired

all of you people getting excited over this sequencer are going to be dissapointed with this app when it's released.
you're expecting way too much from it and are overestimating JJ's programming skills.

just kick back and let JJ get this out of his system.
once he releases this he'll get back to updating the JJ os.
