Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

So if I get the factory cd that came with the 2kxl and then copy it onto a zip internally on my dell dimension ( Win ME), then put it in a 250 external zip connected to the 2kxl it should read OK?
Thanks

in theory yes, but during the transfer any file names longer than 8 characters will get shortened, and hence the pgm file wont be able to find them.

You need simplexfer

http://www.mpc2000xl.com/software.htm

it corrects this issue

I didn't see this question listed in the faq's so here I go...

I'm trying to free up space on my zip disk connected via scsi to the 2000xl..

I'd like to delete certain programs and sounds from certain folders, but it seems that it will only let me delete the entire folder. Is there a way I can just delete things separately?? thanks in advance!

OK, I have tried to hook up a SCSI Zip to my MPC 2000. I'm having trouble with it recognizing it, saving, reloading and it accessing the OS at the start.

It has done almost all these functions off and on, but it is far from consistant. I have tried multiple drives and SCSI cables.

Any thoughts???

Yes, there are no other IDE zips available other than the standard ones you buy in PC shops. TO be safe, get a 100MB one, as some 250mb ones seem to be a bit dodgy.l

sup. i recently bought a iomega zip plus 100 off of ebay.. The mpc says "no SCsI device" when i try to use it. I think its not working because there is no termination switch.. Does anyone have this model?? i think i read that you can open it up and switch it on or something. anyone know?? thanks in advance

Ive had an external 250Mb Iomega Zip Drive hooked up with a Belkin SCSI cable... for more than a year now, and I've never had any problems...saving, loading, maintaining data...whatever....i only use iomega zip disks with it, so i dont know if other brand disks would cause problems......

BOth SCSI zips and an MPC2000xl have female ports and therefore require male cables - are you sure you need a female connector on your cable?
