Well.
This isn't exactly three piece but.
1) Two turntables and a mixer (THIS IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL)
2) An MV 8800 or MPC 4000/3000, whatever
3) An Akai DPS 24

1. MPC 1000 JJ OS 2XL:
Sequencing, sampling, this thing is awesome! had one when they first came out, sold it cause iit didn't even have the features of the 2000xl. recently got another one after selling my 5000 (too buggy, great overall though). Now its loaded with features and most important easy to do what you want quickly.
2. Motif XS: I've had this one a while, probably I think every song I have performed has had the motif on there somewhere. Not as user friendly as the Triton, but more powerful and the M-Lan is a bit +
3. Access Virus TI2 Polar:
good presets, but being able to edit every aspect is great. even some of the cheesy sounds can be quickly edited to usable patches.
after reading this it looks like I should go into sales, sorry about that......

haha! I'm moving to china in 10 days so I had to make this desicion for real.
mpc2500,laptop,headphones
sampled a shit ton of stuff saved on harddrive, downloaded a shit ton of samples. Gonna use jjos built in resampling to bounce tracks to computer for mixing, doing everything on some nice beyer dynamic cans.
may eventually add:
portable turntable
small soundcard

DJ Set (TTs + Mixer)
AKAI 2500
SP 303
That's what I'm actually using.
If I had to really take it to three pieces I'd ditch the DJ Set for my macbook - just to be sure to never ran out of sampling material

mpc 3k, arp 2600 analogue synth, one 1210. Would really need a cv converter to make it that usable but hey il make the sacrifice. Not too fussy about monitors but would at least need a some big ass speakers and just make beats in a cave so you dont need an fx unit
