This new age of software based production is where all the money is at.

Im actually working on a presentation at the moment on this ^^^ issue about how music production is moving from hardware to software and how Akai is adjusting its products to stay in the game.

The MPC5000 was not to pleasing besides the fact that it looks very nice, its bigger and it has an okay virtual analog synth in it.

Id still rather buy a seperate synth instead of getting it all in one big crappy deal.

It was bound to happen. It's been coded for "no longer regular stock" at our guitar center for almost a year now. I think ever since the 5000 came out.

This news is a shocker. I'm left to assume that the 5000 is their replacement for the 2500 in the MPC lineup.

Does anyone think there will be a new replacement for the 2500?
