Please help me with my setup!

This does not simply cover MPC stuff so if you know other things about producing that will help.

I have an MPC 1000, a Microkorg synth, a M-Audio Fast Track Pro and a Power Mac with Ableton Live Lite 6. I also have a set of midi in/out cables.

Basically I just need help setting up these things through my Fast Track Pro so that I can record them into live.

That depends what you want to do...

Basic setup:

Plug the Keyboard synth balanced out (1/4") into one of the balanced inputs on the fast track box.

Get S/PDIF cables and plug the S/PDIF in and outs to the MPC digital in and outs respectively; or else use the other

balanced input on the Fast track for the MPC's left output (but this is only mono). (Or plug the MPC into whatever sound

source you are going to sample from and just plug the S/PDIF out on the MPC to in on the Fast Track)

Then:

You could connect the MIDI out from the synth to the midi in on the Fast Track and use it to control Plug-ins on Ableton

AND connect the MIDI out on the Fast Track to the MIDI in on the MPC then use Ableton to control the MPC.

This is what I would do; It's probably the most useful setup.

I know MIDI is confusing at first but you'll get eventually.

Or:

If you want to record MIDI, or transmit MIDI to the MPC, connect the MIDI cables from the MPC to the Fast Track: ins to outs, outs to ins.

After all this, you have to set up the Ableton software to work with the Fast Track's balanced ins and outs as well as set up the software's MIDI inputs and outputs to work with whatever you plugged in.

It's not as crazy as it sounds.
