Should I buy an M-Box?

this is my first post here

i'm wondering if i should buy an m-box.

i'm looking for a real basic set up

for recording, would an m-box, my laptop, and a mic work?

think you would need a mixer too .. my mbox came with protools.

do you have an mpc, if so does it have the 8-outs. i got rid of my mbox cause it only has 2 inputs. So if i were you, i would think about something with a little more inputs.

yeah that would work, if you lookin for basic setup, thats it.

What did you end up buying in place of the m-box?

I agree to pipecock digi 002 or the digi 002 rack fo sho! But if u dont care about havin 8 inputs then the mbox will be tight but the mbox only has 2 inputs tho remember that, 8 inputs is alot faster!

Ok, this is an opinion. My opinion. Don't waste your money on an mbox. If you have an MPC learn how to use it. Legendary tracks have been produced with just the MPC. If you need a multitrack recorder...i mean if you REALLY NEED a multitrack recorder go with a stand-alone dedicated hard disk recording system. Stay away from computers. The current trend is in the direction of MDMs and workstations like the DPS24. Message me off list if you want to know why.

The whole point of the MPC is to liberate you from the horrors of systems like the mbox. Once you get with the MPC you'll understand what i'm saying and why i'm saying it.

Just my brutally honest opinion.
