the touchscreen simply shows what a normal monitor would.

I looked at the novation for the mpc control it looked the best however I when I looked at it I wasn't sure if it supported long enough sysex strings for some of the mpc stuff.

Ah I see, clearly half awake when I watched the vid! Don't think a touch-screen would be right for me personally though.

I'm not sure how great the Novations Sysex support will be either, especially as I am new to using Sysex in this manner. We'll soon find out.

True if you want to control all the MPCs functions from one page. However this is not entirely necessary. You can create maps with multiple pages which are very easy to navigate through. Using pot pickup mode prevents any nasty parameter jumps and the large LCDs show you what's mapped where on each page. To be honest I don't think there's a better or more flexible MIDI controller on the current market. Yes the build quality could be better, faders longer etc. But for pure ease of use, ability to quickly and correctly create maps and see what's going on with the LCD screens, it wins hands down.

Maybe you have some better suggestions?

not really, but I'm just so used to having proper analogue synths that have 1 knob or slider or button or selector for every function, it drives me nuts to even have to go to the right "page" before getting to a control.

He means the logic environment(SYSEX). Not at all similar to the "environment" u mentioned

I found a cheap ELO 15" touchscreen on ebay.

hooked it up to my Imac

it works perfect.
i am controlling the z4 and the mpc4000 with the touch screen interface.


total cost $80

With the release of the Apple iPad and people wanting to use it as a touch screen controller, well, bump for 2010.
