Polyphony troubles

I posted this in the MPC2500 but someone suggested i try here so here goes.

I have been making some instruments that require playing in chords with my JJOS xL (2500) and having all sorts of polyphony problems. While using the voice monitor, (MODE/OTHER) I see that pressing one pad is using 4 voices! I can only assume this is because the samples are looped and this is how the OS handles the cross fading in a loop. Can anyone confirm this is the case? 32 voices are pretty quickly eaten up this way.

yup, voices get eaten with crossfade

crossfade recommended on samples that are played back 1 at a time (samples from record that are chopped) not on stereo inst performance pgms

to go the route of nym. the now local software guru. maybe on those particular songs you should load those chops into a daw and control them through midi. this way you still get your crossfades and your poly isnt impacted by it.
im very anti pc integration into the creative process but this kinda thing doesnt effect me ever because i can load my chops into my mc909 and still control them with my mpc. all hardware for me. but thats a very doable workaround for you with little monetary output.

Ok thanks - I'm am trying to put our new live set together with no computer. Another cheaper sample player/sampler may be the way around. (using full samples/chops eat to much RAM for my purposes) This is totally a result of having composed this particular song with Live.. Ah the joys of endless space.
