I just purchased a 2500. I'm a former 2000xl user who hasn't touched an MPC in years. I am curious as to what peoples feelings are on the upgraded OS for 2500. I know on the 1000 it's pretty much a necessity, but what about the 2500? Factory OS okay? Is the JJOS a necessary upgrade? Thanks for your response.

Hello

Listen I asked this question aswell as everyone on this board your best bet is to search the threads here this is a common question.

FYI I have been using the MPC 3000, 2000 & now the 2500 I would add sucks with the OS it comes with.

By far the worst OS ever, I am not being harsh at all can you tell me that using the 2500 is alot different then the 2000XL except for the look because the layout is the same. Chop chop you could do before but in zones.

Now the OS2XL 1.14 works great make the MPC worth more than the asking price you can do all the thing you could once before.

So many features that I do not even use, if you read here some of these spoiled brats regarding no updates in the past month. Ask them how long did you wait before you got an Akai update?

there was one in the 2000 classic error and what was it for again?

BUY IT

Thanks. Guess I should've searched more in these forums before asking. Maybe I'll just need to read more about the JJOS features. I was hoping to be lazy and get some recommendations here. Sounds like the JJOS is pretty much necessary for these new MPC's.

While JJOS certainly isn't a requirement by any means, just for the bug fixes alone it is worth it. There are certainly more features added than what most people would have believed possible of the system, and the streamlined work flow is definitely a huge improvement. It is just unfortunate that Akai hasn't shown the same level of excitement and commitment to the system as JJ has.

Nothing is perfect and you certainly can't make everybody happy, but I don't think anybody would say that JJOS has been a step back from the Akai OS.

as much as i dont agree with the price structure and what not. im on board with all of this. the free version is monumentous for the 1k just for the bug fixes. and as for the 2500 if all you were getting was the bug fixes it would be worth a hundred bucks. and you would know it the first time your file system is currupted and you lose work. but on top of all that you get mad feature upgrades too. the only unfortunate thing is that you dont have the option of just choosing 1-2-or xl.you gotta buy them all. and choose which one suites you.

Thanks for the incite guys. I'm gonna start with the free JJOS to cleanup the bugs and then decide if I want the others. I've just bought a ton of gear, so I really don't want to drop the coin on the OS at this moment. Not to mention with my new instruments I just outgrew my mixer, and I want new monitors. There's always something. Thanks again for the help fellas.

Most of us here have a full scale production studio with all the bells and so on. I will just say this an extra 114 will not kill you trust me I did not even test the app before I bought it. I read a ton of reviews and went over the specs about a 1000 times really and ask some of the dumbest questions on this board period! I been making beats since 91 and own just about all the top tools needed.

I will say this if you are using keyboards or vsti's definitly get it if you sample and chop get it again. if you make techno music get it also. I will say this should it cost that amount? No but again we sell beats right? Should they cost that much?

I am a Network Engineer by trade and been selling beats since tapes and will say this pay this kid he is far advanced then the who Akai staff. Do me a favor call them ask them questions you would think you was talking to some 15 year old from walmart. They are Clueless and I live about a hour from there so called Headquaters been there also and the staff there are clueless.

I promo enough for him get your pennies together and buy it
