There is not enough sound memory.....

okay, so I can't find a cord for the Jaz drive and I can't find a DD disk so I said screw it, use the sounds I already have samples of on my computer...so I do, got the first sound in, and I can play it on the pad A-1..so I go to sample another sound and it says there is not enough sound memory..I'm sure that I just didn't assign it right and the MPC thinks I want to sample something after the first sound, but I'm at a loss here..should be an easy fix...thanks in advance

anyone? after I load a sample and assign it to a pad how do I save it so I can load another sample to another pad? and does it still use up the allotted memory if it's assigned and saved to a pad? so that means 26 seconds of memory is divided by the 16 pads? that doesn't sound right...and I know it can't permanently be saved without a disk, cna someone help me out please

OK my man, you are obviously not doing something right.

When you sample a sound, and set the soft start and soft end points, you need to then go to the bottom right of the screen and select 'delete before soft start' and press do it, and then scroll to delete after soft end and hit do it. The 60 will keep the trimmed bits in memory until you do this.

You should have 4 banks (you got the upgraded OS right?) just assign the samples to different pads and then hit the bank button and hit another pad.

You should make sure you have the expanded memory, that might be an issue as well.

I think its a newbie mistake probably. When recording a sample you have to set the length of the sample before hand. (eg 1 sec 2 secs etc) If you dont I think it defaults to using the full sample time available.

26 seconds Period, unless you use the sound compression.

I know I'm a newbie, so please bare with me with these questions...but I went to the linn website where he has the sounds you can download, but how can I get them into the 60?

If I format the disk, my computer won't read it and if I don't, the 60 won't read it? what do I do to get these sounds into the 60?

MPC editor and floppies formatted in the 60.

yeah, it will be, but before I got the 60 all we did was sample stuff using soundforge and then use fruity loops to arrange them...there are about 6 tracks we have like that for our EP coming out and that was the reason I got the MPC to redo the songs and program drums instead of using the breaks we have now.....so I guess that's not gonna be too successful unless I find out a way to do it properly.

when i start making my own beats on my own, that'll be lovely, but not right now...so I'd like to try and get an sp 303 as well since it can play a lot of sample time

okay, so I'm going to get an outboard sampler to take care of my sampling woes...this may be a dumb question, but I can get an SP505 for the same price as I can get a SP303, which one should I get?
