Playback a sample like keyboard

I know this has been asked before but I can't seem to figure out how to get the sample to playback like it was on a keyboard. Mary had a little lamb type stuff. If I use 16 levels most of the pads sound weird and if I manualy assign the sample to the pad and change the tuning they also sound weird. Could it be the sample I'm using or am I just doing it wrong?

Use more samples with different notes.
If u pitch the sample up or down too much the sound will change.

what if all i want from a loop is the bell , and the bell is just one sample how do you map it to the pads to play back like a piano?
