S950 floppy drive(pictures inside)

^^ so ther are no jumpers on the backside???
Oh and DONT unscrew the screws that holds the PCB!!!!!! You'll ruin your drive when you do this with a TEAC FD 235HF.

Hi, I have the TEAC FD 235HF as well and there are definitely jumpers on the back. There should b no need to open the drive. If you could please take a photo of these jumpers and post them, it would be greatly appreciated. At the moment the S950 tells me that the drive is not mounted when I try to use it. Most likely because it does not see the floppy due to incorrect jumper settings.

First of all..excuse me if i don't write english very well..

I used this system for repair the floppy drive in the s950, Putting a few drops of isopropyl alcohol in the head of the drive and washing it with the Q-Tips.. th only problem is to loose the package of steel because isn't simply to open.. but save money and stress is a good solution.. for me..

I can fix lot of old or new drives but not all (some chips on floppy drive doesn't have requiered signals to be modified).

Mod difficulty is depending of drive. Some materials are needed to detect signals on the chips, so please don't contact me to have personnal explications to mod a drive.

the pic that Jeongyong, Shin added the link for is of an MPC60 floppy drive. If you could take a picture of your s950 floppy drive from the same perspective, it would allow us to see the jumpers. They are the small white connectors that connect the series of pins (seen at the top right of the floppy drive in that pic). Also, it looks like your floppy drive has a revision with 3 numbers. Are you sure it's not an A549?

The drive I originally pulled from my s950 was an ALPS DFP723D14B. I have tried 2 different floppy cables with it and both cables will allow the floppy drive to read the disks fine, it will even appear to format, however, when I attempt to save to a disk, the disk says it is unformatted. Even the section that usually show how much disk space is left displays "%UNFMT". If I attempt to save to a disk that is already formatted, I will get the same error. I have cleaned the entire drive inside and out very carefully with a QTip and contact cleaner and it has made no difference. This leads me to believe that the floppy's write heads were somehow damaged before I purchased this machine.

I currently have 3 different revisions of the TEAC FD235HF floppy drive (REV.'s A549, 8549 and 3823). 2 of them (A549 and 8549) I bought from a guy in New York, who I found through this link:

He assured me that one of these floppies would work however, he shipped them to me with the jumpers set for an MPC60, as shown here:

The guy in New York (Al is his name) does not know what the settings should be for a s950 but, he is claiming that one of these drives WILL work if I set the jumpers correctly. I have checked everywhere but, cannot find much info on these revisions of floppy drives . At the moment when I have one of the TEAC drives (or any other drive besides the original ALPS drive for that matter) connected to the s950, I get an error message saying "Oops, the drive was not mounted".

If anyone can verify and post the jumper settings for the TEAC floppies in a s950, they would definitely be a hero in my eyes, and possibly several other s950 users out there. I have had this sampler since November and it's pretty frustrating to use when you can't save the sounds you make on it. Any help is greatly appreciated.
