if they gonna end the production 4 the 2500 they gonna bring out a new highend MPC or a mpc 5000 light version

Agreed.. When I heard about the 5k I knew it was a matter of time. Stupid though because until JJ comes out with 5KXL its pointless. I know a few cats that copped 25's just for JJOS.

peace

JJ will never make a OS for the 5000

More MPK's and midi controllers...

This new age of software based production is where all the money is at.

I agree. E-MU abandoned their hardware gear in 2003, looks like Akai might follow the same steps.

Maybe by 2012, most Roland, Korg and Yamaha keyboards will be all VSTi's.

From the way I understand that JJ obtained the code, I don't think it would be possible for him/her to hook up anything else..

Could be just for Japan. It seem like they would need to replace the 2500 with another MPC before fading it out. Also even if they have stopped production they still may have a good amount in warehouses. I wouldn't be suprised if the next MPC had more integration with the PC and maybe function as some sort of VST.....I could be wrong though. :D

Shame. If I ever upgraded my MPC the 2500 is probably my favorite. Nice build.

Ah well, guess Roland will get my business when it's time to upgrade.

Yeah,...it just seems like the natural progression with everything working it's way into the DAW. Just a thought really,...who know Akai has up their sleeves. :D
