I installed the JJOS about 8 months ago......I chose not to reformat and I haven't had any issues. I probably should but I dread loading all the samples and work back on the HD. :D

Seriously make the switch. Its also very easy to pick up on.

Having the JJOS, is there anything that you miss on the akai os.

The only thing I know is on the AkaiOS for the 2k5 and isn't in any of the JJOS versions is the Track Mute Groups. This may be as it hasn't been implemented in the 1k and that's what JJ seemed to mainly base his programming around (with not always utilising the extra buttons on the 2k5 etc) but I believe it has been requested so we may see it soon.

Personally I went straight to JJOS2XL and only touched AkaiOS for the first day or so of having my machine but there are things I use every time I power the thing up that are only on JJOS so I believe it was definitely the right choice.

It's just a basic feature in the free JJOS version.

The free JJOS version is actually the Akai OS that should have come with the mpc in the first place. Akai's os feels like it's only finished for 80%
Seriously, I can't c no reason why people are still on the akai version. Even if u don't need the extra features, basic stuff like stereo chops, global program edit will really improve the workflow.

IMO an 2500 with the normal os is like a car with a brick underneath the gaspedal that's preventing u to kick the pedal all the way down to the floor.

No disrespect, but u just slow down yourself

I can work alot faster on the JJOS.

I have said it before and I will say it again.
Anybody who still uses the Akai OS is pretty much handicap on the MPC.

well said - because direct recording is NOT fully implemented in JJOS i'll stick with akai OS for now.

I've had an mpc 1000 (JJOS full) and 500 (akai OS) and I've learned its ALL about the workflow, the beats, the samples and the music (I have a basic MIDI controller)

So just to recap - if any of you guys can PROVE 100% that JJOS can do exactly the same style of direct record as JJOS - then you've as good as made JJ another sale.
