Hi Guys,
I've been hovering in here for a while now doing some research with the Various MPC models as I've always wanted to get into the MPC way of sequencing, used a Triton sequencer for years but needed something a little bit more intuitive and flexible,I've used an Akai DPS16 audio recorder alongside the Triton for many years,so the Operational modes of the MPC are very similar in terms of logical operation,so managed to score myself a Mint condition 4K with max ram and 8 Ind outs expansion card.
so far so good and I'm very pleased with the Machine,so the MPC hasn't been much of a learning curve, infact I've taken quite well to it in the few days of owning it,theres a lot of features here that take me beyond the scope of the Triton(which I hated its limited 16 track philosophy as i spent much of the time recording to audio to free up midi tracks)without having to convert to a software package, which I don't want to do because I've never been a fan of sitting in front of a VGA and using a mouse to sequence.I like to be able to work in a kind of semi realtime way of sequencing introducing a more Live feel with a looping type method being able to be flexible with the improvising methods, the MPC environment is just the ticket.
However the MPC4K never came with a hard drive fitted, nor does it have a Cd rom drive,I shall get a new Hard drive(the CD rom drive isn't essential at the moment) and would like to be able to possibly reload the Factory data(I presume it came with sounds/samples loaded)mainly for the Sound library that came with it originally to get me started in the Box,I've got a Library of samples myself, but would just like to reset the MPC back to factory status, and get familiar with the machine before I start hooking up my other 3 synths,(Triton Extreme/Virus TI/Nord Lead)I know its been unsupported by Akai for years, and have done many searches on the net but seem to draw a blank all the time with any sites where I could get the factory data.
Does anyone know where I can find the original Factory sound data or any resources where I could get hold of it.
Many Thanks
